Will a ghost/poltergiest leave a haunting site to attach themselves to a living being?

I was staying with my mother-in-law and her house is full of activity. There was one particular spirit that would knock at the door when we(my mother-in-law and i) would be alone in the house. It would come at the oddest times. But now that i am back here(at my house) it seems that i have been followed. Instead it chooses late at night and when a stranger to the spirit is here. I am not scared but i would like to know if it following me can be the case. And why it left the original haunt. It has scared several people and I have a little laugh but I also wonder what it wants.

    Yes. It happens all the time. Spirits are funny things. it’s hard to know why they do what they do. Sometimes I think that it’s like a master/pet relationship, excepts I can’t figure out who’s the master and who’s the pet.

    It’s actually handy to have spirits around that you are comfortable with and have a good working relationship with because if some negative spirit comes around, you can just ask your friendly spirits to deal with it, and they do, quickly. Otherwise, without friendly spirits, you have to do a cleansing, and spiritual guidance work, and more cleansing — much more of a hassle.

    The previous answers make me giggle. I have had so many paranormal experiences that to me it seems naive to NOT believe
